some of you may know that ive lowered the splitter by about 1". unfortunately the bolts on the underside of the bumper arent symetrical. namely the front 3. i chose not to bolt the front bolts on because it looked strange.
this leaves the sides of the splitter (where its bolted to the bumper) very rigid, but leaves the front kinda floppy. at speed my friend in the car next to mine noticed that the splitter fluctuates. ive seen dtm cars use stabilizers on their splitters, thus making it adjustable as well as for support.. so i decided to do the same thing. ive looked far and wide for what they (dtm cars) use, but was unsuccessful. i ended up at home depot and found what might be the solution to stabilizing my splitter..
here are the pics.. im not sure if i like it or not, it looks a little obtrusive against the lines of the front fascia.. im sure i'll get used to it. but i'm sure that it'll solve my problem.
before any modifications.. note how close the splitter is to the bumper:
before the stabilizer bars, lowered 1":
and after:
tell me what you think..

looking good, however, if you are after aerodynamic benefits by lowering the splitter, there shouldn't be any gap btwn the splitter itself and the body.
ie. if you have merely added spacers to the mounting screws such that there is a gap where there isn't a screw btwn splitter and body, then there will be no aerodynamic benefit.
I am not clear re the details, however, I understand that it is a concept of producing different pressure zones at the front of the car
