Actually, on contact patch, it's sorta yes and no. As I mentioned, the 245/45/16s would be pinched a bit on the wheel. During normal driving, the very edges of the tread won't be used, but during hard cornering, you'll use the outter edge (and if you run high camber, you'll use the inner edge)...so it's close. With a 245/50/16 wheel, you'll be very close to a true 245 contact patch, but you'll lose a bit of acceleration due to the lower FD.
BTW, wanna by a set of new (only 500miles) 245/45/16 ES100s?

We spoke with some Rota reps at the Eibach meet in So Cal, and they said that if they get at least 10 sets ordered for a particular wheel, the can make any of their wheels in a staggered pattern with the correct offsets for our cars (at the same price of a non-special order wheel) Just an FYI

so that would mean 20 people to buy just the pair they dont do.

the 16x7 +45 that they DO make is the same as the spoon fitment.

for the rear the killer thing is that rota already makes a 16x8 +48 which is also te same. someone just has to get them to type in 5x114.3 instead of the 5x100 that they already make.

they already make the right rear size they just wont make it in the bolt pattern

No, I think the reps meant a full set, not just the two wheels. Plus, since it would be custom offsets anyways, something closer to oem, +55/+65 would be better for those that won't be running a BBK anyways.

I have been talking with a Rota rep about getting a staggered set of Slipstreams (16x7 and 16x8) that will be hubcentric and have higher offsets. He is sending me some measurement info so I can get caliper measurments etc. I am waiting for him to send me his measurment requests. I'll keep you all updated.

A staggered setup is ALMOST available for the S2k in the slipstream...

Us Suby guys get Slipstreams in 17x8.5s

I dono if this will work...

but here...

17x8, 5x114.3, e48, 56.1hb
17x8.5, 5x114.3, e35, 73hb
17x8.5, 5x114.3, e48, 56.1hb

We also get this Advan RG immitation..

its available in
17x8, 5x114.3, e48, 56.1hb

We also get a Work imitation

This wheel comes in a 17x7.5 but only in 5x100...
17x8, 5x114.3, e48, 56.1hb

Frankly, Im sure that if the s2k community showed interest (like the subi community) then they would make different offsets, bigger hub center, different lug patterns... possibly even the MF10 imitations..

I, like some other people on this thread, think its pointless to spend so much money on wheels. The most I've even spent on wheels is in my current setup on the STi, Enkei RPF-1.

Rota's are really not a bad quality wheel. Many suby (STi and WRX) users use them for auto-x and all sorts of others uses..

So, basically, all you haters can be haters and keep going out and spending wayy too much for a Volk, or a gramlight and then have the pleasure of showing off yet another wheels that most of the S2k community has (Oh look, another CE28!)

I have rotas on my WRX which is how I got started talking to Rota. The current lineup is not hubcentric and the stagger is not ideal. Offsets are also too low. I was told that making the centerbore hubentric would not be a problem. I'm waiting to get to hear back about some specific caliper measurments.

The current 16x7 and 16x8 would be a decent stagger allowing 205 or 225 front with 245 rears. The Rota 17" only come in 8 and 8.5 which is not enough stagger but they might be able to do a 17x7 and 17x8.5. I'll know more when I get more infor from Rota. I did not want to bring this up until I had something more firm but this thread sort of opened up Pandoras box....

Okay, this talk of haters is sad because we all own the same car so what are we hating on?... the fact that you got the wheels for free?... that's great and cool that you did but leave that out of the discussion and comment striclty on aesthetics. Speaking strictly aesthetics which I think this post is about, the OEM wheels match the car's look way better, plain and simple, or else we wouldn't have all the AP1 owners paying near aftermarket wheel costs to get their hands on a set. Then again everybody has different tastes when it comes to aesthetics so you're asking a subjective question when you ask if it looks good.

Do the slipstreams come in a flat black (like spoon) or a shiny black. I can't tell from pics if they are shiny are not. Hopefully they don't only come in flat.
