Id have the shop that made the intercooler piping for you make a nice intake tube that puts the filter out of the engine bay(cold air), down in that hole on the left side. Its been shown to make a lot more power on set ups like yours. That plus a 3" inch exhaust all you been set!

Just a larger filter would be ideal, I don't have a vortech but from what I have read in the past I think it is a 3.5" inlet. Just go on K&N's website and find a larger filter that would fit in the space you have that has a 3.5" inlet. http://www.knfilters.com/search/univcone.aspx and scroll down to the inlet size you need.
