Your view on tires and the sidewall is a little off. The second number 235/ (45)/ 17 is the aspect ratio. if you increase the width and decrease the aspect ratio (245/40/17) you will actually have about the same sidewall height as the wires you have now, because the two numbers work in conjunction with eachother. Whatever you do, you want to make sure to keep the rolling diameter as close to stock.

)... So, with my 235/45 set up I pretty sure if I'll rub if I slam it. So technically a 245/40 would also. But the advans I have on right now have crazy side walls. So I'm thinking a 245/40 wont have issues if I wanna really go lower with the car than I am already...

Run Falken GR Beta FK-451 they have a sidewall that curves in more so you might not rub as much. 

And tunerjetta, again great wheels!!! Really flows with the car...
