I'm sorry if I missed a post... why didn't you shave the key hole?

I didn't want to shave the keyhole because if the electronic popper ever goes out, I'm out of luck to get back into the trunk. I gave it considerable thought though.

Hey Rosa. Scary situation at work today. I left early at work to go to an interview. I pop the trunk to put my stuff in. Closed the lid. Hopped in the car and started it. I see that the trunk lid light is on. I got out, slammed on the trunk lid but it won't close. I look under there was a tiny spring hangging out. WTF! What is this?!?!? I'm gonna be late for my interview! Panic setting in... I wondered if I should go back to the office and get some tape to close it temporarily and go to the interview. I slammed the lid one more time and it closed. Pressed the remote and it popped the lid open. *sigh* This is not good but I will have to deal with it after the interview...

I just thought I'd share.

BTW, I was able to put the tiny spring back in and I got the job.

Congrats on the job! Good story

I wonder if it has anything to do with you having to remove the key mechanism and how that metal rod works into it all.

The spring was connected to that rod that connects to the key mechanism. I'm thinking when my paint guy removed the key mechanism, he wiggled that spring out of place. I have to figure out a way to connect a small rope to the emergency latch and have the other end of the rope inside the panel behind the seat... just in case.
