Default Out with the old, in with the new....

So i took roughly a 400 mile trip with by brakes sticking on and off the entire way. You could say it sucked, VERY bad. On the highway on uphill sections I had it to the floor in fourth gear to maintain 60 mph. I wanted for cry for my car, but I had to be home that night..

So once home I knew it was time for some new brakes, once I looked I knew I was right! I pulled it up in front of the shop and turned the flood lights on to see, and all four wheel had serious smoke coming from them. Note that these pictures were taken after the wheels cooled off and were pressure washed very well to keep brake dust from long term damage on them. Also notice the blue streak in the wheels? You couldn't see them what so ever. The wheel was covered with a coat of redish brown dust.

I got the wheel off to take a better look at them.. This is the front passenger side.

How many cracks can you find?? haha
Total there were three. Shows you what people mean when they say don't buy cheap drilled rotors. Notice how they are all in the same shop at the top vent hole.

Two of them looked about the same.

The third one really made me smile when I saw her up close.

Not to good if you ask me.

I knew I couldn't get the rotors I really wanted due to the fact they didn't make them for the car.. And I didn't feel like dishin out the amount to pay for the ksport kit for the car.
So I went with these.

They looked pretty all sitting there.

After a lovely time dealing with the old rotors pretty much welded to the car. I got to slip the new ones one.

not to bad

I also felt it was necessary to get those calipers cleaned up. Got them nice a painted black.
After I got everything on and working, it was time for a bath.

and on for the back

What do you think? I have no complaints with them at all.

400 miles with your brakes sticking on and off would possibly crack any brand rotors. No way I would have kept driving unless it was an emergency.

Also, not brake related, but your upgraded glass top is not sitting right. The fourth bow is supposed to stay back, directly above the glass window (along the seam in the fabric). Were you aware of this?

I would skip the drilled and slotted rotors as well because of cracking issues.

Slotted good, drilled bad. Well slotted is bad for pad wear, but good for cooling. Drilling the rotors just creates weak points and fatigue and crack over time.

Ville,
yea, i know. when whoever put the top on did it, they didnt do it right. Like that when i bought it. but when you put the top up you can just push it back with your hand.

Saki,
Yes, they are cool. I just sold my white one with a five speed swap. The blue one is an ongoing project that has a serious amount of work in it.

Fearless,
Just thanks. haha

FYI - The guys that installed my E-Z On glass top forgot to put the two straps on that pull the fourth bow back when the top goes up. I took it back, and they installed the straps without taking the top off in about 30-45 minutes. I got annoyed having to push the bow back every time after about a week.

And on the subtle, yet unique wheel color.
