Unhappy Pic Request : Cutting Quarter Panel

Hey guys,
Im just wondering if anyone has pictures for rear Quater panel modification
for over fenders. ( j's, asm & spoon )
I'm having a bit of rubbing issues and I rolled the fenders to its maximum limits
So my questions are

How high you cut, What did you use to cut it?
Was there welding involved afterwards
How did you prevent it from rusting

Any input would be great
cheers

Even if most people don't weld the cut seam, you should.

Just think how most every professionally track S has been stitch-welded at all the seams... The thinking being that stiffening the chassis improves the handling characteristics.

And consider that the quarter-panels are an integral (and non-replaceable) part of the chassis -- separating the inner sheet metal from the outer just doesn't seem like a handling improving modification.

.... plus welding (both sides) won't take more than a half hour --- even with set up time
