Just think how most every professionally track S has been stitch-welded at all the seams... The thinking being that stiffening the chassis improves the handling characteristics.

And consider that the quarter-panels are an integral (and non-replaceable) part of the chassis -- separating the inner sheet metal from the outer just doesn't seem like a handling improving modification.

Sure, its replaceable... if you cut off the welds and bonding material body which affixes it to the unibody (a.k.a. frame).

I don't know if it makes a difference in stiffness

But in the end, I'm going to cut them regardless

if you look at the cwest car (under their CF full-rear over-fenders) they didn't remove the quarter panel, they raise the lip for clearance and hole saw the hell out of the rest of it...



that way they lose weight but not chassis stiffness.
--- the opera car does that too.


I'm saying cut that quarter panel for clearance, just re-weld the quarter panel edge to the unibody.
