I actually dont think he did much photoshoping. There was a few road signs that he might have removed, but I believe most, if not all of the picture is real - as hatchmobile explained, i believe he took lots of pictures at different exposures - thats what makes it look fake. (im no photographer, so don't quote me on this)

um not sure. I'll have to find out. Is the resolution not up to your standards?

they are hdr (high dynamic range) photos. it's a series of photos taken with different exposures and merged together w/ a program (i.e. photoshop or photomatrix).
^^^you want to get shutter speed constant and change only the exposure.
the way these photos go the surreal/comic look was w/ tone mapping, this allows for more control over the image and the ability to adjust to the desired look.
