Awesome pics! Im going this january for the TAS. Ill be going with a tour so i probably wont be able to go everywhere i would like to. But right after this trip i will start to plans for my 2nd trip without the limits of a tour and hopefully see the many other places i want to see. I really want to attend the Tokyo Motor Show.

buy a small book on etiquette and read it...
read tons on www.japan-guide.com...
take the time to learn some japanese; it is pretty easy... i did the survival phrases on japanesepod101.com...
get a phrasebook... i had the lonely planet one, it was very good...
while i did those classes, i really didn't need most of it as a ton of people speak english there.
kudosai (kudo-sigh) = i would like this
onegai shimasu (ona-guy-shimas) = please
ohayo gozaimasu (oh-hi-oh go-zy-mas) = good morning
konichiwa (ko-nee-chee-wa) = good afternoon
konbanwa (cone-bon-wa) = good evening
destination + made (ma-day) = i'm heading for ...
destionation + wa doko des ka = can you tell me how to get to ...
hitotsu (he-tot-sue) = one (when referring to an item)... hitotsu kudosai = i would like one of those... pointing is very helpful
futatsu (foo-tot-sue) = two (same as above)
itadakimase (eat-a-da-key-mas) = i accept this meal (say it when you get your food)
gochisosama (go-chee-so-sa-ma) = the meal was fit for a king (say it when you're leaving)
umm what else? don't wear shorts. walk on the left. ever if a road is clear, don't walk across the street until you're permitted by the light to do so. don't be scared when you enter a store and everyone who works there greets you with "irrashaimase!" they are just welcoming you. nod your head to them and smile

have fun! when you work on your 2nd trip, let me know. i traveled pretty much everywhere south and west of tokyo.

Wow, it looks like you had a fun trip! Great pics!!
