I drove the MX5 and honestly I am glad I did. I chose the MX5 because I wanted something that was similar in handling characteristics as my S2k which I've tracked a number of times. I also should mention that I practiced the ring on my GT5 simulator for months before the trip and you cannot even begin to compare it to the real thing. The elevation change is just incredible, there are blind corners everywhere and the surface of the tracks also adds to the complexity. I've been told a 100 laps minimum before you even start timing yourself on the ring.

Also, the deductible for having a mishap is quite pricey, if you go off and contact the wall you're looking at 7,000 Euro + in fees! The MX5 has a 6k eur deductible, and you pay for towing, repairs to the track and for the track closure during the accident. There is practically zero run off room.

Cheers

Nice! I'm going back to the Nürburgring in August, for my 4th time. Looking even more forward to it now!

That's awesome! I'd love to go back and do a full track day.

Granted, the cost of the MX5 vs the Exige is probably $700, I still stand by my original assessment. Biggest. Mistake. Ever.

Did you do the Porsche museum or just the BMW?
