i didnt read the thread, and hopefully im not the first person to say it, but unless you take good pictures now, you arent going to take good pictures with an expensive camera. youll probably take worse pics because you arent going to know what half the controls do.

another thing is more megapixels doesnt mean a better camera.

to the all the posters.

I know it's not an S2000 but this gets my vote for the best car picture so far! Outstanding.

Personally I think the S2000 is by far one of the toughest cars in the world to photograph. I have looked at probably a 1000 or more photos of S2000s and have only seen a couple dozen that seemed to do the car justice. I know I am a tough critic but it comes from oil painting most of my life. For several reasons (lack of reflections, flat panels, etc.) the car always looks MUCH better in person than in photos. Good S2000 photos require a lot of forethought about background to really show it off. And, that's easy to see just looking through the postings so far. There have been a few really good photos and in every case the photographer did that.

I recently bought a Panasonic FZ5, as my number one goal was good optical zoom (has 12X Leica) in a small and 'extremely' light weight package. While it's not a Rebel XT, for example, I expect some good things from it. No matter, getting a to-die-for picture of the S2000 may take a while.

As a closing comment, I agree with those comments that the price of the camera doesn't ensure a good photo and all the settings on a high end camera can distract from taking a good shot! I also see no point in going over 5 MP (8x10 pictures) when it comes to digital cameras... at least for 99% of us.

PS - X45....., I loved those panning track shots. Good stuff. Cyclists make wonderful subjects.

Again, Nikon 5MP Old School.. The colors were beautiful, and with Photoshop levels and curves, I was able to achieve these deep colors..

Canon 350D,<<< This is seriously great SLR, Easy to use, and quickly you can adjust to it, It looks and feels very Pro, yet friendly interface and easy to nav.
