So are you serious about autocrossing or not? Why spend $3.5k+ in shocks and skimp on the tire?

 

The reason for the tire choice, is a gentlemans agreement with the local BSP class guys... The agreement, is that we try to keep it a street tire class as much as possible.

Being "serious about autocross" can mean a lot of different things... to me, it means seeing how far it can go with street tires. I'm not to the point yet where i want to haul around a tire trailer, and everyone i am running against for the most part all run street tires. I don't want to run against them with R-compounds... it wouldn't be fun anymore. I'm not racing on a national level or anything, i'm going out there to have fun


TriaX: The Motons retail at $3745, plus $84 per spring if you go with the Swift Springs.

I like how you went with some serious suspension mods where you could've went with some go-fast mods(i.e., FI).
After pretty much pushing my car to the limits, I realized how important suspension components could be.
Very clean car and tasteful mods!

Where and how did you mount the rear resivoirs for the shocks?

Looks like a sweet setup, and a lot of fun! There's nothing like buying a new (to you) car and then dumping several thousand dollars at it to make it faster.

 

It would have been supremely easy for me to put a turbo on this sucker and go have fun, but then it would have been out of class at the autocross, and after having owned and worked on so many turbo setups, i'd like to keep things simple for a while... it WILL eventually get a turbo down the road, but for now i'm keeping it n/a, and getting it to handle properly first So, with that in mind, i started with the suspension and wheels/tires first, and i'll slowly work my way inside

modMonkey: The rates were at the suggestion of Scott at King Motorsports, after discussing the setup and purpose of the car. Its just a starting point.. i'm not against amassing a spring collection to test out various spring rates


mav: the rear shocks for now are mounted to the oem rear strut bar... however, i am going to be building a custom bracket for both the front and rear to mount them a bit more securely, and in a 'trick' way
