As quite a few of you know, I recently had some serious engine problems which led me to replace my block, rods, and pistons. Since my engine was completely out and open during the work, I decided to swap in a set of Spoon balanced JDM pistons along with the Spoon hi-compression headgasket. Beyond any reasonable doubt, this made a HUGE difference!!! The car pulls so much harder, and this is all under VTEC for now since I need to go through a re-break in period!
Special thanks to everyone at AJ-Racing for all their help in getting me through this stressful and frustrating time, and turning a negative experience into something very positive!! You guys are truly the BEST!!!
Anyways, here's a few pics of my new engine and engine bay:
I actually had a chance to talk to Mr. Ichishima himself about the Spoon pistons and hi-compression headgasket, and their work has shown that my compression should be at 12.0:1 now. I'm also happy to say that with the 94 octane gas we get here in Vancouver, I've had no issues with knocking/pinging!
Now, I also took this time to up the sound system in my car, which includes swapping out the stock 6.5"s with Eclipse 2-way 6.5"s, Lucid's Kenwood 3-way 5.25" rear panels, a PPI PC2400.2 amp, and a 10" AVI SL-S sub in a custom ported enclosure. Here's a few pics of how my trunk looks now -- please note that this is approximately 2/3 complete -- I will be back at my installer's to finish everything off on June 1!
My sound-work was done by Speaker City -- amazing, knowledgeable staff who took the time to test out a few subs in the trunk and work with me to decide on the optimal setup rather than just "throwing a sub in the trunk"!!
