My wife complains because I won't let her park inside...............I told her she has control of the rest of the house.

I like some of custom work that everyone is putting into the garage. Here's mine from start to where I am now, but still not complete. Lots more to do to make it completely functional.

When I moved in.....

There are definitely plenty of inspiring photos in here! One of these days I'll have to devise a nice layout and try to organize my garage and do some "upgrades." The garage right now is very "functional" and very unpretty.. It will continue to be neglected for a little while as there simply isn't time to work on the garage and it's a relatively low priority. I really like the idea of painting the garage a different color like radiantm3, or at least an accent wall.

We moved in last year and this is right after moving in. The garage floor is a 1 part epoxy that I'm kind of indifferent about. It has peeled up in spots where the tires sit but it looks half decent and was done prior to moving in.

Here's how it sits currently. I have my 30 gallon compressor tucked away in the corner. It's in desperate need of more lighting but unfortunately it'll have to wait:

The "problem" with the garage is that it's a "standard" size 20' deep I believe, so it doesn't allow much room in front of cars for cabinets/etc, especially with a very long car. For those that have stuff on both sides of the garages, do you guys move a car out of the garage and position it in the middle when you're working on it? Sometimes I'll just work in a more confined space but it can be a pita. Also, can you guys list what kinds of cabinets you used? The tall floorstanding and wall hung ones look very nice.

Your garage is a nice size and has great possibilities. Mine is about 75% complete now. I have a heavy duty compressor, 2000 lb rated racks from Costco, and all necessary tools. Plus my friend built me a custom work bench. I bought the mats at Costco on sale and they help keep the epoxy clean and last longer. I literally do all the fluid changes in the single bay most of the time. You can drag them out and wash them in driveway. I would get closets that have pedestals. This way you can rinse underneath the closets.

I still have lighting and other wall mounted items to get such as a heavy duty vaccum, extension cord reels, and air compressor reels. Plus a nice seating are in the back of the garage with a sink and a larger TV. The last item will be an twin split AC system. It's endless but it's my man cave.

Your garage is incredibly nice, and the non standard layout helps give you some nice space for your work bench, toolbox, etc. Your cabinets are just "closets?" I wonder if something from ikea w/ legs would work alright. My concern is that they may not be durable with all the particle board.. While I do like the look of the 2 part epoxy floors, I could never have one because it would just be one more thing to worry about and be damaged by me.

The big problem currently is the depth. It's not deep enough especially with the minivan (not so mini) parked in the middle bay which really limits me. Maybe in a couple years I'll leave it outside all the time which will give me space for a work area. It's just irritating because if they just made it a lousy 2' deeper even, it'd make all the difference in the world.

I've dreamed about building a detached garage down the road (no HOA FTW!) and making that the "man cave" but the problem is I don't know if I want to sink that much money into something I would likely never get my money back on..
