S2000 goes Shelby
Ok ok, I know I'm gonna get alot of flack for this and I am fully prepared for that. As far as I could find, there are only two people on this board that have done stripes on their car. One was a GP white with red vinyl which was removed b/c of comments from S2k owners and the other is a NFR with black stripes in vinyl who still has them on as far as I know. Well, after looking at both of them, I decided that they had done two things wrong.
1. The gap in between their stripes was way too big (usually outside the "H" emblem).
2. The stripes always stopped at the trunk and looked unfinished (mostly b/c it's impossible to do vinyl around the bumper).
I did some test vinyl to see how they would look and made a few alterations. I brought the stripes closer together and I didn't do the small pin stripes on the sides like the other guys did. I was going for pure shelby cobra look, no pin stripes on the side and a small gap down the middle. I also realized in my attempts to mock up the stripes in vinyl that vinyl will never look that good.
So, after a quick poll of my local club to conclude that only a few people abosolutely hated them, I decided to hit up an Atlanta club sponsor and have them professionally done with Berlina Black paint. Everything was done right and every peice was taken off for painting. Several clear coats were applied to make it extra shiny and everything was buffed to a mirror finish (something I knew I'd never get with vinyl). I had the guy go around the badges to make them stand out more and give them a 3D look. Anyway, after alot of masking, painting, sanding, and buffing, this is what I ended up with. I'm real happy with the job and am glad I did it. I also added a clear bra to protect the front.
I've been waiting to post the pics on here b/c I know you guys can be real brutal with opinions and don't hold back the "you sucks" when you feel it necessary. Anyway, go easy on me. I'm a gallery virgin

If it was going to be done... you did it right

Glad you're happy with the results. I don't dislike it, it looks all right, might grow on me.
