btw...that would be one BAD ASS all-motor civic. I know a guy that has a B20 VTEC in his EG hatch and ran a 13.2, and that was only pushing 180-185hp at the wheels...

imagine what an extra 40-50whp will do, thats about 25% more hp

Cool motor swap. I wonder what kind of times that car can pull.

Kind regards,
Joe

If there would not be a SLK 55AMG with SLR engine standing next to my house, I would call this the swap of the year!!!

I don't think the F20 swap into any other chassis is worth it, with the exception of an AE86, or the old S600 and S800's. However, the K swap is just the opposite. If there was a way, I'd try and find a salvage AP1 and swap in a K20a2 into it using the S2000 tranny.

The potential in the K motor is enormous. The K-swap I have in my Integra consistently nets me 32+mpg and on the same effeciency tune can put the smack down on my S2K in the straights. Once Spring comes along, I'll get a professional to tune my K-motor for power to see what it can really do.

K is the now and the future.

I understand what you are saying about the K-motor...it definitly is a great motor. But does anybody take into consideration that the K is on a FWD platform...meaning the numbers we see are better then what we would see in a RWD application like ours do to less drivetrain loss through FWD.

Most FWD are loosing around 12% whereas us S2k's loose about 20%

200whp in a FWD K series = 224bhp
230whp in a FWD K series = 258bhp

200whp in an S2k = 240bhp
230whp in an S2k = 276bhp

For the K20 to make 276bhp it would have to show 246whp on the dyno

Just thought I'd point that out...while the K series motors are showing good numbers...those same numbers with RWD drivetrain loss would not be anywhere near as close, and our F20 motor is IMO as good if not better then the K series

From what I've read on K20a.org regarding some side-by-side block and head comparisons, the K-block can take as much beating as Honda's H-blocks. Not that FI concerns me, but the judgement is that the resiliency of the K motor is that much better than the F motor.

Aside from the power it makes (regardless of drivetrain loss), I-VTEC is a great thing. I think this is the main utility that allows for high MPG when easing around town, yet power on demand when needed.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Hondata decided to focus on the K-motor rather than the F-motor when it came out in the 2002 RSX because of the tuning potential (among other things).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the F20....it is a great marvel.

i could be wrong. but the whole idea of building a hybrid civic is to use the light weight chassis and put in a motor from a car that has more power but is also fwd.

so putting a b series motor in a civic always made for the better car. you were taking the best of both worlds.

now putting in nsx motors and s2k motors, cool idea, great fabrication skills, but you aren't making a better car.

the s2k has a better chassis (stiffer), rwd, and nicer suspension with a great motor.

now you've taken a great motor from a great car, and put it in a econo box civic. you haven't made it better, just more cumbersome.

props on the work done, but i'll take an oem s2k anyday.
