From what I've read on K20a.org regarding some side-by-side block and head comparisons, the K-block can take as much beating as Honda's H-blocks. Not that FI concerns me, but the judgement is that the resiliency of the K motor is that much better than the F motor.

Aside from the power it makes (regardless of drivetrain loss), I-VTEC is a great thing. I think this is the main utility that allows for high MPG when easing around town, yet power on demand when needed.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Hondata decided to focus on the K-motor rather than the F-motor when it came out in the 2002 RSX because of the tuning potential (among other things).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the F20....it is a great marvel.
The I-VTEC is nice...it would be cool if the S2k's had it but...ohh well. And yes the K's probably are a little more durable, but F's aren't bad either with SC'd guys pushing 340whp for 100000miles that aint bad.

As far as Hondata, I know that they looked into making a system for the F series motor but the computer was not programable, they couldn't do it and since the market isn't as big as the RSX market they didn't bother really trying to persue it. The costs involved to try and figure something out that might work (using a K series computer with the F series) aren't worth the benifits as most people would opt for a couple extra bucks and get an EMS at that point. So not really on the tuning potential, it was mostly based on the fact that the S2k computer is not programable, and that the market is much smaller.

I do agree though that the K series seems to be more "durable"

Actually when Hondata was looking at projects, the EMS and e-Tune weren't on the market at the time. Hondata would have capitalized on being first to market with their reputation. However, the $$$ and cents go, search on some old threads by ultimate lurker. He's written quite a bit up concerning the F and K motor comparisons.

I agree with Luder about everything he's said regarding the K and F motor comparison.. I got into with somebody on this topic in another thread once already.

That guy did run in Zolder against us (we were driving a Renault Clio RS cup with 195 HP and sequential gearbox) and we've benn faster with the Clio.

The car is good but I guess the drive ris a bit slow

Otherwise he uses the gearbox of the European Honda Civic Type-R

He told me it wfits without greater modifications!
