A Sad Day
The last thing I would recomend is a M coupe. How about a driving school or something FWD.
Not sure how you got the car on it's top, but I bet some class time will help you avoid such a serious accident in the future.
The last thing you need is more horse power, with or without the roof.
Did the accident start with the tail coming out?
IMO of course.

The M coupe, besides being really ugly IMO, wouldn't be any better then the S2K.
There are a few guys I know that drive them all year and don't have any problems. One guy left the stock S-02's! But I think moving to a BMW would give no benifit in poor weather driving, except for better weather protection, and a little comfort.
I imagine, that this crash had something to do with rain? Perhaps that's why you are a little gun-shy at replacing it? I may be off on this, but if not, consider this. The stock tires suck if cold, and really suck when worn down on anything other then perfect hot pavement. A simple tire swap, and even snow tires for winter would suit you fine. Either way do what you think is best, we all have our opinions, The BMW might just be a better choice for you. but only in making you feel moe secure. This isn't always the safest route. The car can go squirly sometimes, just ask Rahul who took an offroad excursion after one of our meets in a major rain storm.
I think the biggest thing to consider is, when the conditions are perfect the S2K can make you feel like Superman, when it aint so good, it can make it very obvious that this is a powerfull, high revving, quirky sports car. You just have to bring it down a notch....Make that about 5 notches
Keep us informed, I and a I'm sure all of us are keen to know the full story.
