Seafoam Green S2000
well as some will remember back in october after a wet motorway / no tyre tread and grass bank incident I lost the love for my s2000 and stupidly did a deal for a s14a Nissan Silvia.
After about 2 weeks I abslutely hated everything about the Silvia and had to get rid... awesome car in everyway, I just am a complete Honda man at heart.
So, about 3 weeks ago I picked this baby up, after watching it for a while locally, and the seller being less than helpful I had to pull a sneaky manouver and get a few mates to "buy" the car off the seller as he just kept messing about and I evetually lost the head resulting in some words being spoken meaning he wouldnt sell it to me... so a quick fast one was pulled and I secured the car I wanted.
The car was in a pretty sorry state, not exactly the "one owner, never painted" example as advertised, but for what I planned it was a good base with the right mods to then save money in the long run.
firstly... the car had 4 bald tyres, no tax and no mot. the front and rear bumpers, passenger quarter, spoiler and front lip had been all painted, the wrong shade, and the hardtop was clearly painted by stevie wonder, with no pre painting prep work and more waves than a tsunami.
Then it got better! the soft top had 2 splits in the rear plastic window, and the top had been down for so long it stopped approximately 4 inches short of where it had to be to locate in.... so I punched in the remaining back window and cut the roof with a blade... satisfying?... very.
anyway, on to the good stuff... the car came with the following
Eibach Pro Springs
18" Rota D1 alloys
Veilside style rear spoiler
OEM front lip
AEM v2 intake
CDT front components
and the deal clincher and why I had to have this car... a fibreglass Mugen style hardtop
so this is how she looked the day after I picked her up, sat at MOT, on a borrowed set of wheels
the roof :
and about 3 days after mot
quite the workshop
in the booth
first coat
this was all started last tuesday morning 20/3/12..... for a show on sunday 25/3/12.... and the paint had a really bad reaction, so it was out of the booth and time to fix the reactions this was thursday late by this stage)
coilovers arrived friday - ksports
2nd time lucky and building up
4am Sunday morning 25/3/12
very little sleep and at the show as promised on sunday
and one pic today with my mates sr20det engined s2000
time beat us eventually and the hardtop had to be sacrificed, so its now ready for paint and will be done this week along with a different set of wheels, and some refining of the fresh paint and tidying up great to be back in a s2000, and great to finally have one the colour that ive obsessed about for well over a year now!!!
So since its been in my hands (less than 3 weeks) its had
2 different sets of wheels
ksport coilovers
replacement softtop and frame
complete strip down and respray in 1957 Chevrolet Seafoam green (Originally used on fender guitars then used by chevrolet on cars)
number plate holes and badge shaved
rear badge shaved
side badges shaved
still plenty more to come
Massive thanks to Marky & Stevie @ Paintworx, Bobcrx, Gav, Craig, Lepo, Wilty, and everyone else that gave a hand to get this car ready in 5 days.
And also thanks to Hayley and Amy for not making me and Marky sleep in the cars for the numerous late nights all this week and the week before.
