Oh, and about the hinge - what about something along the line of what Honda used for the trunk? Then add gas struts to hold it open, like some people use on their hoods. Or if you really want to take this further, add full weather-striping, remove the OEM trunk, and attach the OEM trunk latch to the rear section. (Essentially, it'd be the same sort of setup the 350Z and Z4 Coupe have.)

Elistan, that sounds similar to an idea I had: Either take an OEM trunk or CF trunk if needed (due to weight), then cut it out along where the shine top meets it. Then fasten and mold it to the trunk, and bada-bing, you've got yourself a TRULY hatchback s2k. Then all you have to figure out is the hinge and strut portion, because the rear trunk latch could still secure it.
I actually tought about that but you have to use a cf of frp trunk. the OE trunk is way too heavy to make it feasible. the hinge mounting would have to be molded into the hardtop ant the frp would have to be thickend to make it stronger. it can be done but Shine currently is too busy to do any mods like that .
