i think a lot depends on the size of the tires, the design of the wheel, and the drop on the car... 18's without a drop looks nasty (trust me, my car looked like a 4x4 before i had my suspension put in) and 17's look pretty good even without a drop. it all depends on the gap between the rim and fender (size of tire and drop on car) and the overall design.. i think that for mesh rims, it has to be in 18" because the 17" just looks a bit too clustered up, but for TE37's, classic wheels, look good in both 17" or 18"
