I have to dis-agree on the great company part and agree on the part that they are not only about performance. They are the market leader in overpriced Spoon labeled OEM or outsourced parts (not to forget snake oil) and there are very few items that really are better than stock from their line up.
Their exhaust looks like a pumpgun from the 18th cencury, their drilled brake disc cracked on me after 5000miles and their throttle body is good as paperweight.
Their lightweight wheelnuts last 3-4 wheel changes (auto-x is the reason for me) and their wide body looks like Star Trek on LSD...just my 2 cents.
For once I have to agree with you Honda OEM is pretty good to begin with and there are very few companies that approach let alone surpass Honda OEM quality. Many of Mugen and ASM parts are as good as oem. I can't say the same about Spoon though.

Haven't had any problems with their wheelnuts though for the last year at the track.

saying Spoon's quality isn't as good as OEM seems a little difficult to say for me as most of there parts are based on the philosophy of only slightly improving the OEM part as it is pretty good from the factory.

alot of the stuff that was complained about comes down to personal preference and quite possibly how it was installed/used. I'm sure other people have used these parts with great success and happiness.

But in terms of developing completely original parts it is nearly impossible to compete with Mugen in terms of quality.

Actually their philosophy is to reduce the weight of 9 out of 10 of their pruducts (which are outsourced or modified OEM parts) and longevity is not a major concern.

I have had Spoon thermo switches go bad in 6-10 months while OEM and Mugen last years. I have had their lower rear tie bars bend on more than one car (and happened during street use, not at the track). I have had their thermostats go bad in less time then a stock one ever would have.

What it comes down to is the had some well built cars a few years back and when everyone wanted JDM parts there was Spoon. This is just my opinion of their product based on what I have seen from people using Spoon parts and from the parts I have owned in the past.

Back on topic I do like the Mooncraft HT and if I was building a dedicated race car I probably would consider one, but it would be difficult to pass up on the Mugen Version though.

Medical Student you have both so you are now my hero! Cant wait till your second project is done!

The Mugen top is hands down the best looking. The Spoon top looks plain retarded.

I agree I only wish Spoon hardtop looks as good as the chop, no Caymen envy here.
