WashabiS2K, it is good that you know your stuffs.
Bare dry carbon fiber needs protection if not painted or cleared.
I am sure you don't want to paint that beautiful piece.
What you can do is just get a few layers of flat clearcoat to
protect it from the sun and stains.
Just know that the flat clearcoat tends to show swirl marks much easier than the regular clearcoat, so
if you don't take care of it well it will look messy as hell in a very short time.
Also when you get it cleared, pinholes will be more visible to your eyes.
Unless your bodyshop is willing to send down the spots and reclearcoat, pinhole markes will be there.
pinhole marks can be invisible when you do at least 4~5 layer of clearcoat, but
I do not see the point of getting dry carbon fiber products if it adds more weights
even though they are structurally stronger.
FYI, my amuse dry carbon hood is clearcoated 3 times and
ASM trunk is clearcoated 2 times and they still show pinhole marks somewhat. (i don't really care)
Good luck with your new wing!!

thanks for the information!
I was going to ask my bodyshop guy what would be the the best option, but utilizing the information that you provided, I might just have it clearcoated with a few layers of flat clearcoat. The car is garaged and indoors most of the time anyway and I try my hardest to take care of all my parts
I don't really mind the pinholes, I just felt like I might damage the weave by running a towel over it because it felt like the lint would get stuck on the finish. As long as it doesnt get damaged and whatnot, I'll be happy.
I'm hoping to scrounge up some money so I can make it out to a track event and test out the difference that the wing makes.
Thanks again for the info WISEGUY, that's the information that I have been seeking for for the past 3 days, haha.

wow! thanks, haha. the car is looking good
I should still be picking up some smaller items here and there, but for now, you guys will just have to wait.
here are some pics from this weekend at the SYTFU BBQ/Car Meet. Pics are courtesy of EJ from 8thcivic forums.

as far as an update, I received my fenders last friday and I sourced my new hood.
hopefully the rest of my goodies come at the end of the month, then I can drop the car off for paint and fitting.
