Default What goes: Chuga Chuga BOOM!

As everyone who was at the Dragon Ball Run knows I blew my engine. It was a pretty dramatic effect with a large explosion smoke cloud and spray of oil.

Well after about 3 weeks I now have a completely rebuilt engine. Everything in this is brand new with the exception of the remilled head and the cams. HardTopGuy came to my rescue and did all the repairs. The engine now runs like butter although with only 804 miles on it I havent gone above 5k rpm.

Here is a before shot:

And after:

And well... now it looks like before again. Although I havent put my J's intake back on yet. Still trying to decide if I want to keep it or sell it and put the cash toward the engine.

Still not really sure what caused it. The car had 66k hard miles on it. I will readily admit that I drove the car very hard and had just finished 2 dragon runs before it happened. However, I have never mechanically over-revved the engine (6-3rd downshift) etc. I am a very aware driver and I always check my oil levels etc. So I am very comfortable in saying that this was not due to negelect or anything specific on my part. Although I do not doubt that I helped to "accelerate" the problem.

ImportSport: Can HardTopGuy build motors? Or does he have access to all OEM F20 internals?

I'm getting kinda high in miles...and wouldn't mind doing a little internal work...staying with OEM of course.

Thx

Yep their mechanic Dave does most of the S2k work and he really does top notch work. If your worried about any of your internals I have no doubt that they could do a tear down and replace anything that looked questionable.

They have a line of S2k blocks and heads in the garage that have been the remains of other dead engines.

Dang, that's crazy! But I'm glad you're up and running again!

Did your mechanics ever figure out what caused that damage?
