Yeah, the lugs do look OEM but they are not. They came with the wheels.

the only thing i can think of is over toqued.. like many others..
at least the solution is solved and hopefully it wont happen again
just keep an eye on the amount of torque on each lug

what is the ideal level of torque that should be applied to the lugs of a wheel?

the first time i sheared my lugs, it was due to my tire guy overtorque-ing the lugs on my volks. after that horrible occurence, i made damn sure that they were torqued to 80ft/lbs when installed, and i would check periodically to make sure that they were set at 80ft/lbs. now imagine my surprise as i sheared my second set!!

check your hubcentric rings, make sure that they're seated correctly - no part of the ring should protrude out of the wheel. when the wheels are bolted on, the wheel must sit flush with the rotor.

i totally messed up and realized that i used two rings on one side thus reducing the surface contact patch between wheel and rotor thus causing the lugs to shear.

after the second time, i removed all the rings and went lug centric.. never had a problem since.

Someone tried to jack your wheels...

It's possible that they were overtorqued and whoever was trying to steal the wheels broke them off. Especially if they were using hand tools. The dealer is using an impac wrench which would be able to remove the lugs without breaking the stud.

GET WHEEL LOCKS.........NOW!!!!!
