i'm not sure why people put those "jdm" yellow and green chevron stickers on their cars here. my wife is true "jdm" and she says it's an embarassment having those on your cars in japan. here is what it is:
Officially called the Shoshinsha mark (shoshin untensha hyōshiki), new drivers must display the green leaf mark for one year after getting their license to warn other drivers that the driver is not very skilled.
they also have one for elderly drivers...maybe that will be the next hot jdm sticker here..

.In Japan lots of enthusiasts rock neon underbody lights, gull wing doors, altezza lights and usdm stickers and parts.... not exactly the most popular items in the states???

In short everyone wants to be different or outside of the norm so they outsource parts from other markets to make their cars different from all the other ones.
I actually have all three JDM plaques...LOL new drivers badge, elderly drivers badge and the handicap badge too..... I'm an innovator as the trends change I am prepparred to keep up...LOL (I have them mostly because I collect stickers and little things like that).
BTW none of them are on my car

idk why people have such a gripe with it.
