Default Anyone ever recover a steering wheel themselves?

Hey guys,

I'm going to try and recover a wheel from scratch, and need to locate the rubber padding that covers the frame. So far, I've only been able to locate padding that covers the original stuff.

Anyone on here know where I can source the proper material? Or should i just layer the padding I've found until desired thickness is achieved?

The padding on the metal frame of a wheel is actually a foam that is injected into a mold that the frame is suspended in. That being said, you can not get the actual padding. You can use a variety of foams to layer and make to your desired thickness.

Awesome thanks for the heads up. I was seriously racking my brain to figure out what it was. Makes sense though, as it was seriously tough to remove in the first place.
