Default Ap2 dash comparment

Did the ap2s have a compartment under the dash above the passengers legs?

If so can Ap1s do the same?
Thx

I believe MY04&05 dont have them. They were first available on the MY06 models. I'd considered getting it from a part-out but it was just not worth the trouble for a small compartment.

I think it's only big enough to literally fit cd or a pair of gloves from what I've read, and that before 2006 didn't have the room in the dash for it.

Yeah, it's pretty small and probably not worth the conversion if it can be done. I fit some business cards and some small things there. Even CDs keep falling because there's no door for that compartment.

I seem to recall reading that the shelf is not retrofitable to earlier models.

The ap1 has no room for it to be retrofitted.

I put one on my 05. I thought it was very handy. Although it doesn't hold much, it's a great spot for small things like sunglasses, garage door opener, gum, etc. It requires some cutting of the dash and some longer screws to hold it in place but it is doable. I wouldn't dream of doing the retrofit with the dash in the car though. It's definitely one of those jobs where everything has to come out.
