I use the compartment every day. It houses my sunglasses and wallet. Very convenient.

The knee bolsters are different on the 00-05 dash. That's why the storage bin doesn't fit without modification. If it had the same attachment points lots would have been retrofitted years ago.

The photo doesn't really indicate how shallow the pockets are. I have some random stuff in mine but I really wouldn't miss it.
