Default Center console insulation on ap1

I've noticed my drive terrain is loud so I decided to dig in. The car has been swapped and worked on by others before I got it. I removed the console and noticed no insulation under it. I can see small old pieces of foam there so I assume it had some at one point. Is that correct? I can't find pics of it online.

Anyone ever added some in here or know where I can get some oem one?

Attached a pic, any help would be appreciated!

There's no insulation in there from stock.

DutchyFutch is correct in that there is no insulation near the e-brake.

However, there is a thick foam insulator around the gear shift area that appears to be missing in your pictures. It is listed in the parts catalog as "Insulator, Change Lever", Part #74699-S2A-000 (about $20). When that foam disintegrates, it turns into a mess. Clean as much out as you can with a vacuum and install a new piece. I did mine a short time ago.

Not really, but I don't have much wheel time this year, either. I just did it when I took it out of storage, but its back in storage now!

Just opened up our 2003 GPW two hours ago for the first time ever to put on an AP2 console (a very worthwhile mod: no cutting, easily reversable).
There is some foam around the shifter base itself... the area under the cup holder is wide open - no insulation. But there is a piece of tape you are missing ;-)
And the metal is kind of crapped up... maybe a leaky water bottle?

You have a crImped wire MOON YOURS... that's not good!
