Default Dash Problem

I noticed tonight that my dashboard looks like it's starting the peel. The vinyl material looks like it's shrinking!

My car is a 2008 with 18k miles. take a look..

Fortunately, my car is still under the manufacturer's warranty. Has anyone had this problem? Is it worth having the dealer take apart and replace?

A Cracking poor looking dash is one sure fire way to lower the value of a car, so yes it is worth having the dealer replace it.

Just got back from the dealership.

The service manager had taken a picture and sent it to American Honda to review this problem. Today I met with the district service manager from American Honda and he said he could not have this dash board replaced. He suggested a black sharpie pen or a razor to cut out the foam that was visible.

Any suggestions?

it's an 08 but wasnt sold til 09. my warranty ends 06/12. two years of uv abuse for a car that is garaged and hardly driven that is having this sort of cosmetic issue should not be acceptable.

Thank you for the advice. I have my service documents on file. AHM also confirmed that they have photos that the dealer took.

I received a call back from my AHM customer service claim and the rep said "to be honest with you, nothing's changed and they aren't going to replace your dash"

I asked for his e-mail and said he doesn't have an e-mail?

My documented statement from the dealer says "DPSM (district parts service manager) inspected dash and 2 other s2000, all looked the same, said dashboard is normal"

Not sure if it's something that is easily repairable. If you are looking to reupholster the entire dash, i think gotuning has the entire dash available for $1100 with $400 core exchange that comes out to a total of $700.

OP, I have the same issue on my 08 - have you had and success with repairing it? It bothers me, but not too badly... I was going to just take a sharpie to it to see if it works.
