Dash shiney from Radar
I know this has been discussed before, The coiled wire from the radar detector lies on the dashboard, then mounts to the window. The constant movement of the wire against the dash board has made the dash "shiney" from the rubbing.
Since i've noticed it, i have wrapped the wire around the rear view to prevent any rubbing, has anyone been able to get rid of the shine?

The surface texture has become worn - it isn't coming off.
Hard-wire your detector and ditch the silly cig-plug cable altogether. Easy as hell to do...
edit: hmm.. I really should make a quick DIY on how to do this. If your detector uses a RJ11 connector (telephone-jack connector), it's a ten minute, <$10 (telephone cord, inline fuse-holder, fuse) job.
