Default DIY custom interior lighting for under $10

I know there are some threads and info about this but I wanted to post to show everyone how easy it is.

By just replacing the interior dome light with LEDs and replacing the trunk light, you can get a colored light interior. I had an LED light bar kit in a previous car and I can tell you that this is far better. The led light bar kits require wiring and you need to turn them on when you want them. Not to mention they are difficult to place in the car and they shine so bright that it tends to be a little to much. With just replacing the interior dome light, the light will go on when you get in and out of the car and not be in the way while driving. You can also just move the switch to have it constantly on if you feel the need. The truck light will also just go on when you open the trunk. In addition the lights are enough to let you see while not being overly bight looking like a glow toy.

Here are some pics

My camera phone has some problems taking the pics. They are brighter than that but not intensely bight as I mentioned.

The trunk socket is 168 and the dome sockets are DE3022. A complete list of all the bulb sockets can be found here https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/449.../#entry9390699
There is one trunk bulb and two dome bulbs. You can get the bulbs in any color or get LEDs in any color including just white. All you have to do is search Ebay or the web for the bulb numbers and it will yield many results. I was able to get the dome lights in LEDs and the trunk in a blue bulb for under $10 off ebay including shipping. Many of the LEDs or bulbs will fit multiple sockets so don't be alarmed if the item has other sockets listed. They will fit.

If you don't want the expensive, cumbersome, complicated, and overly bright LED bars, you could buy an S2000 specific lighting kit that replaces the factory bulbs for $25 - $50 or you could just buy the bulbs off ebay for $1 each plus shipping.

Install is easy and all you need is a flat head screw driver. For the trunk bulb remove the entire plastic housing not just the cover. There is a place to stick the flat head on the housing and once it comes out there is a connector to disconnect. For the dome lights, there are two groves to get the flat head in, they are on the windshild side and you might not see them at first. The cover will just pop off and you can access the bulbs.
