Default Door won't unlock

went to open the car today and as I press unlock on the fob it unlocks but quickly locks up again within a second or so. Managed to get in by the paasenger side as that door will open if I'm quick enough. The handle on the inside of the driver's door is not sitting flush. Seems stuck open a little so I'm guessing this will not allow the lock knob unlock.

I know I need to get into the inside of the door but how can I remove the door card when I can't open the driver's door at all? Anyone any ideas or would I have to just sacrifice the door card?

Happy New Year!

i dont understand how the The handle on the inside of the driver's door is not sitting flush. but you should be able to manually pull the unlock tab from inside and opn the door... otherwise the is no way to the door card off w/o the door being open.

Hey SRap, I've played about with the handle and lock on both sides and noticed if the handle isn't fully depressed then the lock won't open. I reckon the rod between the handle and mechanism is caught or seized. I can get hold of a door card, just want to open the thing without needing a new card.

BTW hope alls good your end now you moved. You're missing some top down weather here last few days!

actually it was 60 degrees here a few days ago, that was a nice change from the 10 inches of snow we got a week earlier
okay so the inside door handle wont sit fully flush?
before you destroy the panel, remove the door pull. with the two screws holding it to the door card, and see if you can see the rod from that, you should be able to, once you move all the plastic out of the way, let me know if you need any pics, ive got my car all apart so i can post pic of the bare door if you want.
