Default Full-Length Floor Mats for Tan Interior

I've been on the hunt for replacement floor mats for my 05 GPW S2K that has the tan interior. I love the tan interior color and am glad I have this color combo, however, my ONLY gripe with this car is how dirty the floor gets. This is entirely due to the floor mats not covering where your feet land when you get into the car. The dirtiest part of the interior is where the carpet covers the cross bracing underneath the floor. This is where my feet go when I get into the car. I know I could steam clean it, but it will just get dirty quickly.

I've already seen the four-piece floormat set from Japan and the MUZ floormats, but I think black, red, or blue mats in a tan interior would look strange (unless you guys can prove otherwise).

I'm already pondering how I can accomplish this feat myself, however, my time to tinker with my car is limited due to my other responsibilities.

Help?

Hey, I have same model & color combo S as you. I just used black Ricks mats. They cost around $170. They are very well made, way thicker than OEM mats. The Eye hooks are under the mat and not visible when installed. I recommend these.

Visually the 4-piece jdm mats look pretty nice but they are expensive and they are still on the thin side, not much thicker than factory carpets and they don't have heal pads. OEM style mats like these wear out fast without heal pads.

The black Rick's mats look good in the picture posted in the above reply with that interior despite not being available in Tan. I ordered a set of their Nylon mats last month and they are great quality for a decent price, an elongated design with heal pads included. But I have a black and blue interior. Ricks has Wilton wool mats than can be had with tan coloured trim piping which might be a nice accent but their Wilton wool carpets are closer to the price of JDM 4 piece mats and Muz mats.

Muz offers a carpet in a tan colour, they are expensive but good quality , heal pads cost extra, I'm not sure if their tan colour matches the s2k tan interior, it seems to be a slightly different shade of tan.

I highly recommend going with an elongated mat despite the cost as the most wear occurs along the structural brace as you have identified. The wear along my brace has stopped since I've been using elongated mats, and heal pads extend the life of the mats immensely.

Tough choice but definitely get one of them.

lltysonll, thank for posting the picture. Black mats on tan interior don't look as bad as I thought they would. Seems like black would be the best option in terms of hiding dirt and wear. While I would like everything to match the tan color of the leather, tan mats show too much dirt.

JUFUSION, I appreciate your analysis of market offerings!

honestly, if I were you I would definitely get the mats I have. I love them. They are easy to clean, heel pad, cover humps, and are thicker than OEM mats. Also, just thought you might want to know the OEM 4-piece passenger side doesn't fully cover the hump.

Your only options are pretty much black carpets. I've yet to see a matching tan carpet that covers everything.

option #1 - you could get black carpet and swap it out, but you still have to get black mats.
OR
option #2 - you could just buy the black rick's or muz mats and call it a day.

your choice but I would go with option 2.

At this point, I'm between ordering the Rick's mats in black, or going to a local upholstery shop and seeing what they would charge. Rick's mats cost about $200 after shipping.
