Default help! dash coming apart

Just noticed on my 05 that the area where my dash meets the defroster vents (just at the bottom of the windshield) is coming apart and i can see Yellow in the seam. Ugly! Anyone else had this problem and/or have a fix for it?

Thanks

Ray

Its due to excessive heat and uv on the dash. It is actually shrinking and there isnot really a fix other then a new dash.

I have the same problem on my 08. The dealership that I had inspect my dashboard had their representative from American Honda take a look. He said that two other s2000's at the dealership had the same problem and said it was normal. My car only has 20,000 miles and has been always garaged. I still have one year left on my warranty and they will not replace it.

If anyone else has this problem, we should post pictures, model year and any other information to figure out which cars these are happening to. I know that 06+ have bubbling issues as well.

I am tired of the dealerships and American Honda that won't take responsibility for defects.

Damn, that really sucks. FWIW, my current '01 ap1 with 140k miles and tons of sitting out in the sun doesn't have this issue with the dash. Neither did my former '05 after approximately 30k miles and mostly parking outside.
Maybe something changed in the manufacturing process?

My 05 with 76k miles has this problem. I park about 50/50 in shade and Texas sun. I'd like to swap the entire dash but am worried about sqeaks and rattles after.

I finally performed the repair about a month ago, but was reluctant to post because of the the adhesive used (I wanted to wait to make sure the results were acceptable). Although the product I used is not truly a neutral cure silicone, there was no damage to the dash, cleanup during application was very easy, and the repair has held up very well.

Repair steps:
  • clean dash surfaces to be joined (EDIT 04-25-2022 - Wipe both edges of the crack with alcohol and allow it to dry completely before performing the repair)
  • run bead of silicone along seam
  • force silicone into seam with finger
  • wipe up excess with shop towels (EDIT 04-25-2022 - For clarification, the sealant will accumulate on your finger as you smooth the bead into the crack, and this is the excess to be wiped up with a shop towel. The sealant is thick so I did not have any stringing or drips)
Total repair time was 40 minutes and total cure time was 24 hrs.
