help! dash coming apart

How did you actually apply it? Cause it seems like that seal has no sharp top to make it easier for anyone to get into that tight spot between the windshield and the dash. Thanks!

The seal does come with a pointy screw on tip. I didn't have it for the pictures since I tossed it after the repair.
