Default Homelink mounting

I've been seeing this Homelink photo scattered across the forums but never a shot at the back. I'd really like to mount mine this way but can't tell the clearance behind the panel, there's a big bolt there in my 2006.

Any (and all) assistance appreciated. How's it held in, etc. And where I can pick up +12vDC in the same area.

I have my heated seat switches mounted there. There's enough room for the switch (goes roughly 1.5" back) and some excess wiring on my '04.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to put some scrap styrofoam back there and see of the cover will mount. Once I cut the holes in the cover I'm stuck!

Also looking for a handy place to tap +12vDC -- anyone have a suggestion? I need to verify the Homelink works in the car before cutting the holes. It works when connected to a motorcycle battery so I know the device works, just unsure of the location. (Out of my Expedition visor that wouldn't stay up -- almost threw the visor away when I remembered this mod.)
