Default LEATHER BOOT - shifter

I have a question,

my leather boot for the shifter hangs low, and I can see the actual metal rod of the shifter just below the knob, is that Normal? if not is there a way to fix it?

I got my 04 AP2 about two weeks ago... and it's been bugging me... I don't like to modify anything.. I like it all stock... but I wonder if you would have to replace the boot to fix the problem.

thanks for the input!

i have seen where some have bought a washer and placed it on the backing nut. Take the console cover off, place the nut on the threads at the base as low as you can make it go, the washer would be about 2 times the overall size of the backing nut. replace the console and place the shift knob in place without snapping the console down. Place the shift know in the correct position and tighten the backing nut into place and that will pinch the leather to the shift knob via the washer

14MM is the nut size, just did a stereo install in another S and had the console out and this was something done too. I taped the nut to make sure no scratch's on the black chrome finish
