This might be a great opportunity for you guys to upgrade to a dimming mirror! It will make nighttime driving much more pleasant, especially when big TX trucks are driving behind you.

Did you do this? If so what did you get? What would you recommend?
EDIT:
I found the link the the eBay listing of the mirror I purchased. It's pretty generic, and it appears the seller only offers it as part of complete kits now. Here is a link to some pictures I took tonight, along with some pictures from the mod for the mount. For reference, I am 5' 11" and there is just enough clearance at the top of the mirror frame for me to get a nice clear view out the back window. I think this mod will NOT work for someone taller.

I can't get the link to your pics to work. I don't know if its the fact I am in China for a few days or not because some of the internet is blocked here.
You are right about the pain in the ass to mount something new. I have thought about modding the mirror to accept the currnet mount instead.
I noticed the rear view picture behind the silver. Maybe I could mount a camera on the front so I won't hit those damn parking space bumps.
Yup, they block Picasa in China (blocked sites). I had to use a proxy service the last time I was there. Funny you should mention the parking space bumps; someone brought up the same subject in another thread not so long ago. I thought Curb Alert might be a good solution for that, but I have never personally seen one in action.
Back in Tokyo and I can see the pics now. What was the circuit your ran the line to?
How was the process of removing the old mirror and installing a new one? I am just so leery about removing something that is factory mounted and doing it all over again. The mirror on my 94 T bird started falling off a few years ago and I have probably reinstalled the thing 4 or 5 times. PIA. Don't want the same thing with the S. Thats why I wanted to change/modify the mirror mount instead to accept what is mounted on the window. May have to destroy a used mirror for some of the material and plastic heat weld it together.
Thoughts?

I ran a wire down to the fuse box. Removing the old mirror and putting the new one can be tedious, but should go smoothly with a bit of planning. I found splitting the new mirror the most difficult part, for fear or breaking the glass. The most important consideration is mirror angle, since everyone needs it to tilt to meet their sight line, which in turn is dependent on their seating position and height. I'll try to pull the mirror tomorrow and take pictures of the insides. I was planning to take it down anyways, to switch the green LED to amber to match everything else.
2nd vote on the Zoom Engineering mirrors.
Best looking ones and direct replacement!

So I checked out the website and it directed me to the S2000 fitting kit to attach that mirror to the car. Why could you not use the fitting kit and then use any other dimming mirror?
