Default Quick Question About Replacing Stock Steering Wheel

I had just made a topic on this which I'm assuming was deleted as I mentioned that I was selling the wheel. I'm not trying to sell to anyone on S2KI, I'm just trying to figure out what the general procedure is for this; I've never replaced a wheel before. If this is not why my thread was deleted, please PM me or something so I know the reason.

Anyway, if I replace my stock S2K wheel, I would be replacing the stock hub as well with a quick release correct? This means that in addition to getting rid of my stock wheel/airbag, I could also get rid of that hub?

I'm just trying to figure out what I can and cannot get rid of.

Depending on what hub u go with u will have the steering wheel,SRS reel, and your cruise control. There is no stock hub. Some Hubs let u keep the SRS reel. Hope that helps some.

youtube has decent how to's on replacing steering wheels. they arent exactly the same as the s2000 but the overall concept is the same. you will at least need an aftermarket hub and the steering wheel; quick release is optional. I was able to do the entire process in about 30min. NRG makes a hub which allows you to keep the SRS reel, which I would recommend. if the reel comes out it is a real pain trying to put it back in and aligning it correctly.

Thanks guys; by SRS reel you mean the wiring used by the horn? I'm looking to get the the Personal 'Eagle' Steering wheel along with a quick release hub; I have no intention of trying to retain the airbag.

I guess I'll start looking into quick release hubs that preserve the SRS reel. Here's a link to where I'll likely be buying the steering wheel, I believe that this link comes with the wheel + horn button, and then I'll have to get my own hub. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PERSONAL-EAG...d77933&vxp=mtr

Edit: I can use an NRG hub with the Personal wheel right? That may be where I start looking.

Edit2: If I got an NRG short hub like this (https://www.getnrg.com/products/inte...t-hub/srk-131h) I'd be able to mount my Personal wheel on that correct, however with no quick release? If I wanted to add in a quick release I'd need to extend that hub with this (http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/viewP...idcategory=467)?

Yes, you would be able to mount your wheel to the aftermarket hub WITHOUT a quick release system, moreover the personal should bolt up to the nrg hub. I'm not sure if you are or are planning on running an aftermarket seat I would highly recommend a quick release setup, as it makes getting in and out MUCH easier. Especially if you love your wheel, like me, and don't wanna rub against it every time you get in and out. Plus it's an added deterrent for potential theft.

they also sell the swivel type releases where the wheel folds up instead of coming off all together.

I have an NRG short hub, NRG quick release, and Personal Grinta wheel. Everything went together very nicely, except the the horn button needed a little shaving to fit into the quick release all the way. I got my entire setup from dwsparts.com great customer service It'll be cheaper for you if you order everything from one place. If they dont have the wheel you want in stock they can order it; thats what they did for me. Plus theyre based in Tyler, TX so shipping will be quick

Thanks very much guys, that's everything I needed to know! Hopefully I'll sell my wheel in the next couple weeks and get a move on with some more interior customization.

*caugh* I still have the stock Honda radio/speakers They crackle so bad with any amount of bass.

if you get the srk-131h hub by nrg you do not need to take the srs reel off and it also comes with the resistors so it is all plug and play
