Default Replacement Leather? Opinions...

I've read thread after thread and looked at hundreds of pictures and can't decide what to do. The leather seats in my 03 S2000 need attention. I've ordered new seat bottom foam and need new leather to cover the seats with. I've been looking mainly at Katzkin and leatherseat.com products. Any body have any suggestions and/or pictures of their install?

I'm looking for OE color (black) without any special accent colors or threads, perforated center section just like the original and OE type fit. Price point isn't a real concern but I'm not buying Honda leather because that's just crazy!

Have you considered just buying a set of Clazzio covers? I don't have them but they seem to fit and function great from what others have said.

No, haven't considered those. Really want to replace the worn leather and bring the car back to "as new" condition as I can.

I've owned it since new and only have 92K miles on it. It will soon be a third vehicle and only used occasionally and purely pleasure driving. Wife and I we looking to buy a beach house and this may be kept at that location.

Having had some S2K seats modified in past, they are not leather, they are pleather but quite high grade so keep that in mind, you don't have to use 'real leather'. They are made by Recaro.

Upholstering can get pricey quick but you might be able to do certain areas for a good price. I found a local guy who is an approved Rolls Royce upholsterer and couldn't tell the difference between his work and original on some HSV GTS seats I had fixed.

Pretty sure at least the perforated part of the seats is leather. Honda apparently applies a synthetic coating on it's leather for durability. MSRP in 2000 for an S2000 was 50K in Canada. The seats better not be pleather.

I'd go with a pair of mint used OEM seats for $1000 and sell your old ones for $300. Mint black OEM seats are relatively easy to find.

Leatherseats.com will end up costing you $1000 by the time you upgrade to the premium leather that is closer to OEM than the thick & grainy base material. Installing the covers is not super easy to do yourself, and not inexpensive if you have them professionally installed. And they're are little different than the OEM design. Always be skeptical of the fit/finish if the manufacturer doesn't show photos of the product installed.

All front facing material on the oem seats is leather.
