Seat Reskins
I agree the seats will always have the loose look in the shoulders. Im no expert but i dont belive steam will help either. But anyone with pics should chime in. Notice the stiching is in the correct spot. I took my time and tried many diffefant ways. They are installed correctly. This is just how this set was cut. The "skins" definity took to the seats after a few days of sitting in the sun with conditioner and look good now. When first put on they had that out of the drawer look (like folds in a shirt). Nice and tight now...I like them and the look, I would do it again.
So how hard was it to remove the seat back skin? A lot of hogs rings like the lower portion? From pictures on the internet I think the factory seat back skin actually "wraps" around the back cushion?
Hopefully these hold up in that buttock region most s2000's have an issue with.If it were me I may have taken the skins to a tailor/sewing shop to reinforce that area with a little bit more stitching and probably some superglue on the stitching as a last measure. I would have to see how good of quality the stitching is.
Thanks ridnloo appreciate it...
Fish the upper wraps around the back and then hog rings behind the front cushion "back pad". The Back padding then connects to the bottom out of view. I just used a small pair of cutters to snip all the rings off then used good quality cable ties to reassemble. Worked really well.
Sk8br8ker I replaced the bottom cushion. The skins also had a " padding" sewn on the inside that the stock units did not have. Not sure on the seams. Time will be the judge they look to be holding up good so far.
