Default soft top delete extending interior trunk carpet

has anyone done this? add some sound deadening and cover up all the bare metal so you can use the full space for trunk?

I wondered the same thing. It'd be a good idea. Either a larger trunk or larger behind-seat storage.

it makes the trunk a lot nicer and it makes it so people don't ask you what was there before when they look into the cavern of sound deadening material that is visible in the rear glass.

Obviously a very old thread, but has anyone ever done something like this? I have a removed bulkhead and would like to carpet over the bare metal in the back.

Any ideas for finding matching carpet?

Also, I have red interior carpet but the trunk is grey... Opinions on whether to do it red all the way back or grey forward?

I used automotive carpet from Amazon after my Harddog install... I didn't spend a whole lot of time fitting it, threw it in there and made it look decent... Can't see it with the top down and almost not at all with it up...

The box is to support the glass of the soft top, I didn't like how it just hung there after the bar install... and it looks like I need to vacuum a bit back there lol...

Not bad! Does it go up on the sides? Is it attached in any way or literally just laid down?

Product link?

I used spray adhesive on the carpet in places to tack it down you could get it laid out nice and flat if you take your time and have no seats and such in the way...

I've been working on this--I'm really happy with how it's turning out:

Just need to tie up some loose ends (black fasteners around the top, edge trim to replace the binder clips )

edit:// Oof, kind of left out the details: I covered all the metal with 1/2" Dynaliner, and cut and fit charcoal Ozite (http://www.yourautotrim.com/ozcagrgr.html) . The Ozite is pretty easy to work with to follow contours, and I just stuck it to the dynaliner with some 3m outdoor carpet tape.
