Default What's this on my seat?

Can someone identify this light green dust that's coming out of the perforations every time I sit in my 2004 seat? I'm a new owner so not sure if this has been covered before. Is there some kind of lining under the leather that is deteriorating? I plan on getting Clazzio seat covers soon, but would like to fix this issue first. Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?

Looks like pollen. I'm assuming that car sat outside with the top down for a long time lol.

If you really wanted to fix it right...remove the seat cover and vacuum/wash the foam pad really well.

I noticed if I hit the seat bottom with the palm of my hand I can see this dust come out of the perforations. When I take the seats out to install the Clazzio seat covers, I'll go ahead and remove the leather from around the cushion and have a look. Still wonder if anyone else has seen this issue.

Maybe it's the foam breaking down into dust and coming through the perforations? You'll know once they peel back the leather for the covers. It's happened to my dog beds that are made out of that "egg crate" foam which is similar.

+1. It's the foam underneath the leather. Had this same exact problem with my 93 Prelude. It was a pain in the ass, but I got rid of the car anyway not too long after it started happening.

Either that or somebody's sneaking into your car at night and eating Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard and Onion Pretzels.

I wonder if I can put some kind of thin liner on the seat bottom to prevent this "dust" from coming thru the perforations on the Clazzio seat cover. Anyone who has taken the leather off, is there a liner between the leather and the foam? I'm wondering what #8 in the diagram below is. Any ideas?

Being that the Clazzio covers go over top of the stock seat, what about just wrapping the stock seat in a few layers of plastic wrap? Perhaps not the most elegant solution, but you'd never see it once the covers go on.

I don't know what #8 is, perhaps the bottom of the seat?

I'd talk to a local apholstery shop. They've probably dealt with this before. Maybe there's a spray can sealant or adhesive that could coat the foam or simply wrap the foam in fabric first?

I would open your seats like you said and try to vacuum that stuff out. Are you sure the little holes in the covers actually go all the way through? I have the fake suede-center Clazzio covers, so there are no holes in the center inserts for me to check. Clazzio covers are the bomb - my best and only mod !!

BTW, I've had my covers on for 5 years and my seats still look new underneath. Now I can easily get the covers off/on in a couple of minutes w/o removing the seats, because the covers have stretched a bit. First time was bitch!! But they still look like new too! I pull them every couple of years to put some leather conditioner on the actual seats.
