Anyone interested in taking their S2K's to Nevada for a 90 mile road race (individual)? If we can get ten cars we might be able to field a "team". Speed classes will be 90MPH all the way up to unlimited 200MPH+. This is not a joke. It is an annual race through the desert in Nevada: http://www.silverstateclassic.com/home.htm

Don't reservations have to be made up to a year in advance?

Hey this might be fun!!! It is in September. Right? I just kinda read some parts of its Rules & Reg. We might qualify as a "marque team" with less than 100,000 production and will only need 5 cars per team. What speed limit are you interested?? I don't think it is too late to register is it??? You should post this on the main page to see if anyone is interested! I'm interested in joining - need more info - I will be SCCA licensed by 4/01.

No licenses are required. The events are 4 days long and are in May and Spetember. You have to be a member of Silver State ($25/year). There are fees that increase by the speed class you drive in. I was thinking maybe 100 would be a good target speed for the S2K. I did the classic two years ago in 150 MPH Class. (DQ last year for having a sport bike on the course early). 2001 events are closed (i.e. full) but there are still many slots for 2002. I'll be there for sure. See the previous link for full details. I can tell you it is really weird to sit at 100+ for 90 miles. The idea is to come as close to your course target speed (as an average)as possible. This race is a national resource for speed freaks and few know about it.

This sounds like a real blast...I have been pouring over the site about the event and if you do the Grand Touring class, you must have a roll bar, since we drive convertibles. The GT class has a speed of 115-125, which is what *I* would do. The Touring class has speeds between 95-110 and doesn't require a rollbar...

Just rhought you might find that interesting if you are considering doing this event...
