Default Extending S2K Days to Include S2000 Challenge @ Buttonwillow

I am attempting to guage interest in extending the S2K Days to include an S2000 Challenge event at Buttonwillow Raceway on Monday June 24. This event would NOT be part of S2K Days officially; it would be sanctioned by SpeedVentures. This event would do the following:

A) Let those who love time trials to get timed officially at an S2000 Challenge ("nationals") event and have that good 'ol "just for fun" competition we love so dearly (note pseudonyms can be used for timing results),

B) Give first timers and beginners who DON'T want to get timed and DON'T want to compete a chance to drive another track in California (Buttonwillow), and have additional fun to the fun they already had at Thunderhill, and receive more instruction free from the harassment of the psycho speed demons among us,

C) give those who WANT to get timing FOR LEARNING PURPOSES, but don't want to be competitive a chance to run safely.

This can all be accomplished with the "SpeedVentures.net" format, which has three half hour run groups. We will be able to provide 2.5 hours of track time at Buttonwillow and accomodate the full range of drivers; from beginners to advanced racers. If people want, in the beginners group we can forbid timing for those who are worried about this aspect of S2000 Challenge events. We will have instructors on hand.

I need to assess the level of interest soon so I can put a deposit down on the track to hold the date!

The drive from Sacramento to Buttonwillow is 3.5 hours. People could leave Sunday afternoon, evening, or night and still get to their motel in time to get plenty of sleep.

Anyone can email me at aaron@speedventures.net if they have any questions.

So far we have the following people confirmed for Buttonwillow:

Aaron "The Desert Tortoise" Bitterman
Jason "The Hare" Saini
John "I'm Slow" Wurth

Who Else? (I reserve the right to modify or make up nicknames).

I'd be interested, but I'm not sure if my work schedule will allow it. I think I'm already in big trouble taking the Thursday and Friday off.

Things have changed drastically. To see what's going on regarding s2kdays, visit the thread in Meets & Events (posted by desert tortoise) entitled S2KDays cancelled, S2000 Challenge ... etc.). We're now running Thurs. and Friday, so no need to run monday for the S2000 Challenge!

Is BW on or off??? I want to run BW too. I'll have new tires with lots of rubber left and no where to burn it off

Look mofo. How can you say that and then say you're not going to Spring Mt.????

And, yes, Buttonwillow is off.
