S2K Days East Coast???
I think it is great that S2KCA is continuing the annual event in Monteray, California next year.
I was just wondering how much interest there is on the East coast (for those who don't want to make the cross-country journey) to hold a S2K Days on this side of the US.
Does anyone think there is room for an East coast event???
How many would be willing to show up for another weekend in either NC, GA, or TN?
Please vote
For all those that voted for a Fall event we have:
The Dragonball Run
Where: Knoxville, TN
When: September 21-23, 2001 (Only 7 weeks away)!
Who: This is being organized by the Southeast Regional S2k clubs.
This will not be as organized of an event as S2K Days was but we will do our best to have as much fun!

More details to follow...

The S2KCA will only sponsor one S2KDays per year.
We are encouraging are new regional/local groups to put together track events. We have the proper insurance to do these types of things.
If you are interested in putting together an event, let Greg, Sondra or myself know and we can help you out!!

Meat, at this time I was not asking S2KCA to sponsor an event. If we had enough response I would consider contacting Greg and Sondra at some point. For now, I was just curious if anyone would even attend an East coast or even a Southeastern Regional event if one were offered.
Seems like it would be great to get a bunch of people together possibly in the Atlanta area since we have places for scenic mountain drives AND full road course tracks.
It was just an idea since I think many people who live on the East coast will not be attending S2K Days Montery since it's 3000 miles away. Obviously there would be lots of details to work out and we would have to find sponsorship.
There are thousands of owners across the country, maybe as time goes on there CAN be regionalized events. All it would take is for someone to organize the event. A full time task in itself for several people.

I'd like to throw in my .02 here. First off, there are any number of opportunities for regional get-togethers. It takes a few people willing to put it together. Knoxville, September 21-22 comes to mind. See https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=18075
Mack is in charge on the ground there. For some reason, he wants me to help.
If you all would like to refer to it as the Southeastern Regional, then that's what we'll call it.
You Atlanta guys seem to be very well-organized. I've been impressed with the turnout for your events. I think every drive of yours has to possibilty to be a larger event if you give us out-of-towners enough lead time to plan to get down to the mountains of north Georgia.
As production continues, we will no doubt have large events, but we shouldn't look for 100 car regional events with 3 weeks' notice. Plan ahead. I'm taking a few days off next April to go driving with anyone who might enjoy popping in here or Knoxville. I like the idea of Knoxville being a shorter roundtrip to The Dragon.
You know you all are welcome in NC anytime. Just don't expect track time in our track-free town.
BTW Gary, we had quite a group here in April from other than Southeasterrn States.

Me in charge?

As I have said before, give me enought time, a month, and a weekend date, and I can go anywhere within 250 mi. Ill need more time if I have to go further. CA doesnt look feasible due to the extreme cost of getting the Stook over there.
I would love to go, but I am sure the guys over there said the same thing about NC. I would like an event that gave more time for talking about the cars and mods. They have been out long enough now for significant mods to have been done. It would be great to get together to compare notes, see whats going on, and of course drive. Any drive is cool with the stook. If we did one in the Maryland, Va area I was thinking of the Chesapeak Bay Bridge Tunnel. That thing is WILD in a convertible. I can only imagine what it would be like with 30-40 stooks at once.

Of course the Asheville location is still great. No objections from me, but I live 120mi from Asheville
