Make sure you let it wear-in gradually, get some miles and heat cycles, you might not have fun now, but it will last longer and grip better during its lifetime.

His advice is good, take out as much as you can and run with less then a 1/4 tank of gas. As for grip, i am guessing houston has crazy hot weather now. I sugges you put the tire pressures UP, since on the stook, our problem is TOO much grip on a hot day and not Too little grip. Start of at about 38 psi, if you arn't bogging down and you are also getting too much wheelspin, take 2 psi from the rears out and so on...
